  • Available Year-Round

    There is no better way to view Colorful Colorado than at sunrise. Join me year-round on a sunrise photography adventure where we will practice composition, find the correct camera settings, and more! Based on your hiking ability and preference, I will adapt my workshop.

    Sunrise photography sessions will begin between 3am and 6am

    Add $50 for each additional person (up to 3 people)

    0-1 Miles: Sunrise landscape photography at an easy-to-access lake or stunning overlook.

    1-5 Miles: Sunrise landscape photography at a beautiful lake in the park that does not require previous hiking experience.

    5-10 Miles: Sunrise landscape photography deep in the park, visiting lakes that get few visitors, especially for sunrise.

    Suggested equipment: Camera that can shoot in manual, tripod, wide-angle lens, headlamp, water bottle, hiking boots, backpack.

  • ONLY AVAILABLE FROM MAY-OCTOBER (Weather Permitting)

    Join me to experience the stars like never before! At over 13,000 feet, the stars shine brighter, making the milky way visible to the naked eye. Learn how to photograph the milky way, how to paint with light, or how to capture star trails all while being immersed deep in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.

    Night Sky Photography Sessions will begin between 8pm and 9pm

    0-1 Miles: Night Sky Photography up on Trail Ridge Road! Here, we will learn how to set our cameras to be able to capture the milky way.

    1-5 Miles: Night Sky Photography at a lake in the park! Here, we will practice light painting, star trails, and milky way photography.

    Suggested Equipment: A camera that can shoot in Manual, tripod, Lens that opens to f2.8 or lower, headlamp.

    Both courses include my step-by-step night sky photography editing guide! Once the workshop is completed, you will receive a link to watch the video!

  • Available from May-November

    Practice capturing motion with long exposure waterfall photography. Join me on a waterfall photography adventure where I share tips for finding the correct camera settings to capture dreamy waterfalls as well as practice composition, and more! Based on your hiking ability and preference, I will adapt my workshop.

    Waterfall photography sessions will begin between 7am and 9am

    add $50 for each aditionall person up to 3 people

    0-1 Miles: Waterfall photography at an easy to access fall.

    1-5 Miles: Waterfall photography in the park that does not require previous hiking experience.

    5-10 Miles: Waterfall photography deep in the park, visiting falls that get few visitors.

    Suggested equipment: Camera that can shoot in manual, tripod, wide-angle lens, neutral density filter or polarizing filter.

Meet Your Instructor

 

Nathan Wood is a passionate landscape photographer who has spent the past two years exploring Rocky Mountain National Park. You can often find Nathan in the early mornings hiking through the dark to reach a distant lake or remote peak for sunrise. Through many years of trial and error, Nathan is excited to share what he has learned and will provide tips and tricks to gain the best images possible given any situation.
