Frozen Tripod
Dream Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park
f/9 | 1/200s | 21mm | ISO 500
The lakes are finally slowly starting to melt! When I rounded the final corner of the trail, I was happily surprised to find this small portion of open water near the outlet of the lake. At first, it was much too cloudy and I had almost given up hope on seeing any morning light illuminating the clouds, but my patience paid off! I crept up to the lake edge, making sure to only step on rocks and I positioned my camera so that the light was reflected on the water. To get this effect, I had to place my camera tripod in 3 ft deep water and as expected, the legs froze open as soon as I pulled it out. It was totally worth the extra struggle to thaw my tripod to get this shot!
